PBP005: DYS – Andspyrna CDEP (2009)

Punk rock veterans Dys’ second release. Influenced by English anarcho-punk and mixed with a little bit of metallic crust. Upbeat and dark at the same time and pretty catchy. Comes with a remastered version of their debut, Ísland brennur as bonus tracks.

“Dys offers a high quality crust punk, that as plain as it might sound. The energy is direct but the guitar lines, dark and powerful, create strong, nearly mesmerizing melodies (‘Heimilisofbledi er allra skuggi’ is a moment of pure pleasure); the band succeeds in avoiding too smiliar drums, a few ‘slower’ breaks allows a real atmosphere to settle down.”

PBP003: TENTACLES OF DOOM – Dansað við lík CDEP (2009)

Aggressive and melodic take on 80′s punk rock. Hints taken from bands such as Wire, Wipers and X.

“Now, Dansað við Lík by Tentacles of Doom is a rather different proposition. They´re part of the punk umbrella, but they´ve wandered off into a corner, started drinking cider and blackcurrant and listening to early Bauhaus and Sex Gang Children. The EP takes these influences and stamps repeatedly on them to force out a harsh, abrasive sound that makes me feel happily belligerent.”
-Bob Cluness, The Reykjavík Grapevine

There was an unreleased and roughly mixed track from the same session, called Skammdegi which was not included on the CD because of sound issues. You can still download it from HERE.

PBP002: NORN – s/t WWW (2010)

A mix of European post-punk and the darker side of American 80′s punk. Shamelessly ripping off bands such as Christian Death, Vonbrigði and Wipers.

“As a consequence the use of both femal and male vocals on two tracks works really well. The songs are simple, direct, with powerful and catchy melodies; the raw production (I said ‘raw’ not ‘fucked’) helps to strengthen the feeling of emergency of the tracks, the lyrics in icelandic adding up to the atmosphere.”
-Bertrand Kunzi, Guts of Darkness

We’ve finally got proper web space. We’ll be putting up content during the next few days, including our every release as free downloads which we will continue to do with new releases as well.

We’ve got at least three releases coming out this summer, all of which are ready recording wise and only need a few finishing touches in the artwork department. These releases are OFVITARNIR’s debut: a full length CD called Stephen Hawking/Steven Tyler. 8 tracks of garage-rocking-post-hardcore sounding maybe a bit like amrep worship stripped of it’s masculinity. Then there’s a self-titled reverb drenched cassette by the gothic post-punk band NORN and a self-titled CDEP by noise-punk duet SPY KIDS 3D.
